The two-module structure of 1,100 square feet was assembled in about 48 hours and finished as a guest <b>house for families</b> to use while visiting their children at the non-profit Starr Commonwealth.<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><b>Koby Cottage</b> has a rooftop deck, a contemporary interior finished with light wood, and an exterior clad with weathered cor-ten steel.<br /><br />It’s the first structure built using the Kullman Frame System developed by <b>Kullman Buildings Corp</b>., an entity wrapped up with XSite Modular and the much discussed Atlantic Yards prefab project. KFS is a light, welded, factory-produced frame chassis similar to the trellis frame on a Ducati motorcycle.<br /><br /><b>KFS</b> has hollow tubular steel that supports large window openings and cantilevers in the <b>Koby Cottage</b>, according to <b>Garrison Architects</b>. Though red brick might seem like the sort of thing you would see in institutional architecture, here it adds a whole other dimension to modern design. The<b> interior </b>is equally as warm, and continues the <b>gorgeous brick red color</b> in comforting accents that add such a level of sophistication to what could have been just a normal, slick, personality-less space.<br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br />“This house, for a musician, is located in a low-density housing area, near a large pinewood, south of Lisbon. The site had an unusual topographical situation, where the construction of the front street had cut the landscape to form a small “cliff” 3/4m high.
